SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL
The CJB School Advisory Council comprises 12 representatives—three from each of the school’s four sponsoring parishes—as well as the Executive Pastor and Principal. Its responsibilities, set by Archdiocesan guidelines, include:
- Developing policies that enable the school to fulfill its mission;
- Reviewing and advising on the school budget, tuition rates and other sources of funding;
- Participating in the school’s fundraising, student recruitment efforts and long-range plans;
- Acting as the public relations and marketing arm of the school; and
- Participating in the Archdiocesan Principal Performance Review Process.
The Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month (except July and December) at 7:15 p.m. in the school’s Faculty Lounge.
Much of the Council’s work is accomplished though its committees, in which school parents are encouraged to participate along with Council members, school staff and parishioners. The Council’s four primary working committees are:
- Development, which coordinates various fundraising efforts to help keep tuition affordable and provide financial assistance to families unable to pay full tuition;
- Finance, responsible for working with the Principal, Executive Pastor and parish finance councils in the review and approval of the school’s annual budget and tuition rates, as well as monitoring fiscal performance throughout the year;
- Long Range Planning, whose responsibilities include developing and maintaining a long-range plan and assisting in the Archdiocese-mandated School Improvement Plan; and
- Marketing, which works to promote CJB’s positive image in the community, publicizes and markets the school to parish families, assists in the development and promotion of spirit wear and other merchandise, and assists in student recruitment.
